Addis Ababa, July 13, 2015 (SSNA) -- The Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon on Monday said he wants to see the leaders of South Sudanese warring factions to end the fighting and called on Salva kiir and Dr. Riek Machar to strike a peace deal to end the violence.
Addressing reporters in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the Secretary-General of the community of the Nations stated that the ongoing civil war must stop and that Kiir and Machar must also show good leadership.
“True leadership means making compromises. It means stopping the fighting, stopping the killing and raping, stopping the destruction of the country,” he said.
Ki-moon further affirm that he was sad to see South Sudanese suffering after their aspirations for ‘a peaceful and prosperous future’ have been shattered by the war.
IGAD-mediated peace talks collapsed in early March after the two rivals failed to agree on power-sharing deal and security arangements.
